Santa Fe Summit Corporate Campus
A 11-acre top-of-its class corporate campus at a prime property that faces Deer Canyon and the Los Penasquitos Preserve. The design called for a strong circulation axis that links all buildings and site features, meeting spaces, large dining areas, and recreation facilities. A major challenge and opportunity was to design within the canyon side setting so as to respect the natural setting. While the client preference for sub-tropical landscapes close to the buildings was respected, native oaks, Torrey Pines were planted along the hiking path and along the canyon. California Sycamore trees, with rustic character, are planted throughout, in and out of leaf, providing a contrasting counterpoint to the tailored details of stone, glass and water. At a canyon overlook, stepped concrete walls form an amphitheater space shaded by specimen oaks ‘climbing up’ from the natural oak grove in the canyon below.
